Texas, ever closer

Well, two more days of work, then I'm off!  OUTTA HERE!  Work is driving me nuts, and I need a break.  Mom found out that someone had a bit of trouble with their kids at the Mexican border, and suggested that I bring proof of identity.

We have a filing cabinet.  I'm not sure why, but we have a filing cabinet.  Yeah, we put things into it, in the proper place, but when we need them?  Nah, they're not in there.  Two years running, we've had to purchase a copy of our personal property tax receipt, because we couldn't find it.  It's only $2, but DAMN, it's aggravating.

So, tonight, I open the filing cabinet of mystery, and go the the file that I named "vital records", thinking that would be a good place for birth certificates.  Not only did I find each child's birth certificate, I found that we had TWO copies for Monica!  LOL, that just proves that I lose and replace things regularly.  I also realized that Brett now has a driver's permit, and that would have worked, but heck, I have BIRTH CERTIFICATES for ALL THREE kids!  This is a personal victory.

I won't have the money to do all I wanted to on this trip, but after reading this journal, I feel rich.  Just the fact that I can take this trip, proves that I am rich indeed!  How many folks can take off with their mom and kids and travel over 2000 miles round trip, showing the kids another climate, another lifestyle, and another country?  WaaaHoooooo!!!!!!!!  Texas, here we come!

Enjoy the riches which are your family and your opportunities for a travel adventure!  I'd be jealous if I wasn't so fond of you and your ma!  ;)   Russ

Yeah, money's a little tighter here than I'd like, too.  But I DO have a credit card or two.  :-D

Last time we went thru the border, they gave us some BS about the kids (::ahem:: let's be real...they're looking to get paid off) and I looked them square in the face and said 'You want to keep them?  Sure....nooo prob.' and suddenly everything was A-OK @@ Note:  I wouldn't really leave them and they know that...but they also know that Mommy don't take no BS...hee hee hee...
