Dealing with changes, and the first day of school

So far, so good.  I am keeping myself motivated by telling myself what we're saving.  By ride sharing, not smoking, and not buying soda, we saved about $20 yesterday alone.  That's incentive enough to keep up the good work.  Not smoking really didn't bother me much yesterday, and one of my work friends is going to quit, too, because I did.

I can't sleep.  I've gotten 4-5 hours each of the past 2 nights, but I'm not worried about it.  I am having to adjust my schedule back, going to bed earlier, and my body is adjusting to the lack of smokes, and I think I drank tea too late.  I'll straighten out; I'm not worried about it.

The girls start school today!  They are both so excited.  I remember that feeling.  Monica practiced opening her locker last night, and she's a pro at it.  Natalie dropped off her supplies and met her teacher, but we already know her.  Monica had her in fifth grade, and she's wonderful.

OK, that's it for now.  Here's to a good day!

$140 a week?!  That would free some money in the old budget!  Good for you and your co-worker for quitting!

Great job on saving and quitting smoking...you are going to be so tired in day or two.  Hope you get some sleep.  I guess you are getting some reading done if you are getting to work early?  Take care.

I quit cold turkey (for the second time) in 2006.. been smoke free now for two years.  You do save a bundle when you quit buying cigs. (And I used to buy mine by the pack because I kept telling myself "this is the last pack" for about two years before I quit)  Good luck!  Estela

I'm so proud of you for quitting smoking! That is a HUGE accomplishment by itself without dealing with all the other budget cuts. Great job, keep it up!!!
Congrats to Kevin too!

Donald couldn't sleep when he went of cigarettes, so that must be a common symptom; I don't recall it happening to me.  Hey, Melatonin is cheap, and not really a drug; I think it helps me sleep.  You can get it at Walmart.  It doesn't leave you feeling draggy like over the counter sleep aides do.  It's something your body naturally manufactures.

I'm very proud of you and Kevin for trying this.

Isn't back to school a love hate relationship......I'll miss being around my children all summer, but in the same breath, I'm so ready for them to!!  Sue
