I was talking on the phone with a friend from Texas. He stated, "Yeah, I just got back from Kroger..." I laughed out loud. Kroger? I hadn't heard that word in a long time. It made me stop to think about regional differences in franchised businesses. Those of you from other regions, weigh in on this one, will you? Those of you who live nearby, what do you remember from other parts of the country, from visits or living there?
Kansas City Metro
Groceries- Price Chopper, HyVee, Hen House, Thriftway
Convenience/Gas-Quik Trip, Caseys (there are others, but those are the main ones.)
Fast Food-McD's, Hardees, Taco Bell, KFC, Sonic, Wendy's, Burger King, Arbys. (I'm sure I've missed a ton, but I know that some of these don't exist in other areas.)
What do you have in your area, and what part of the country are you in? Do you miss something that you know from another region?

OK....I'm from San Antonio now, and all we have for grocery stores is H.E.B. and the occasional Handy Andy.
Gas stations have pretty much been bought out by Valero...
Fast food.....we have all of those.....but we also have Jack In The Box which isn't available everywhere.... in Florida, they used to have Checkers (which is the same as Rally's for those further north)...
What do I miss? In 'N Out burgers from Cali. God, those are some beyond fantabulous burgers....

In Newton, KS we had "Dillons"(grocery), "Town and Country"/"Kwik Shop"(convenience stores)
I don't particularly miss any of them.

Im a silent reader usually but I wanted to reply to this I'm from Jersey...We have quick check--which is a gas station/convience store, WaWa's everywhere which is a convience store as well...Food stores are Pathmark,Shoprite,Foodtown,Stop N Shop...Fast Food is KFC,Mc D's,Burger King & Wendy's...We have dunkin donuts& starbucks...Resturants we have Applebees,chilli's,friendly's,houlihans,a few diners,etc..~Tara
Groceries- We have Kroger too. Publix, Food Lion, Hills
Convenience: MapCo, Kangaroo, and several others that I forget their name b/c I never stop at them. I always use the Shell and BP gas stations that also have convenient stores.

All this is in Middle TN area.
