I am constantly thinking "Wow, their priorities are all messed up!" The fact is, we all have our weaknesses in that area. You would think mine are out of whack, while I'm thinking the same of you.
I think it's crazy that you drive an expensive, brand-new car with high payments, when you can barely make ends meet. You might think I'm nuts for buying a pizza, when our bills keep us from having much grocery money that week.
I can't believe you let your elementary school kid walk around town, un supervised, for hours on end, without knowing where she is. You'd roll your eyes at me having mine make coffee in the morning, while I sleep that extra 10 minutes.
It scares me that you think it's OK to go into debt for a new laptop, when the one you have works fine, and is only a year old. Can YOU believe that I have dish network, high-speed Internet, and 3 cell phones in the house?
Kat? You bought SHREDDED CARROTS, while wondering if you could afford the hamburger? Guess what, Kat, I decided against chicken breasts a couple of weeks ago so I could buy name-brand chips and dip.
Ha! Sorry to call you out, Kat, but your the most recent journal I've read today. I'm just messin' with ya.
So, there you have it. We all look like our priorities are screwed up, to each other. Let's all get rich, so money priorities are a thing of the past, OK? Then, we'll all be drinkin' that free Bubble-Up and eatin' that Rainbow Stew. If anybody, other than my parents, get that reference, please let me know. Just typing it made me feel old.

My priorities are perfectly in order: Ride Blue if time and weather permits; ride the Gold Wing if you can talk your husband into it. I see NOTHING wrong with my priorities! Life is short.
I think I recognize Bubble up/rainbow stew from an country song...maybe by Merle Haggard??? Come-on Rachel, I'm 38 and I don't think I'm that old. LOL
Of course, I listened to "good ole" country music with my grandmother who is now 92 years old! Let me know if I am right.

I completely understand what you are saying here. In fact, I'm going through alot of this right now. Stop by my journal to read my story.

Rainbow Stew? Is that a gay thing?

Dammit. I choked on my soda laughing at Russ's comment.
People have told me I have messed up priorities but I just nod my head and continue to file my nails. Eh. As long as my family loves me, I can't be all that bad.
*wink*
~Amy - who is feeling a tad redundant in writing her name when the little link beneath this has the same thing.
it was cheeper to buy shreded carots, that would all be used, then whole carrots that would sit in the frig and spoil. Made 2 meals with those carrots.
This is a funny entry. All about preferences. And so true. We find a way to get what we want by sticking a "value" on everything. It's a special code we all have. We are the only ones that know it. LOL. We have 3 computers (2 very nice and one old), take a big vacation every year and sometimes a long weekend too. We all have a cell phone (well Hubby's is paid thru work). Bought us a big dining room table we wanted 12 months same as cash. But...my kitchen cabinets need redoing, the roof needs redoing, the a/c unit is about to bust, the 2nd toilet won't work......and we'll go out to eat and blow $30-70 a pop, buy whatever we want at the store... and enjoy it and not get these other things fixed b/c we "can't afford it". LOL
I got your reference and I liked your entry! Very true. Even if we have similar situations and similar values we still prioritize differently. I think when money is tight it is necessary to have something you "splurge" on to give yourself a sense of accomplishment/satisfaction. - Barbara
