Detroit, day one.

Kevin sounded worried when he woke me up for the 3rd time at 4:15, and we had to leave by 5.  I got up and showered and such.  We left, driving through rain/snow/rain/snow all the way to the airport.  It stopped shortly after our arrival, and there was no delay.  We boarded the plane.

Northwest Airlines...The official airline of sardines everywhere.  We were crammed in so tight, and the plane was hot, and the little boy in front of us filled his diaper before we landed, and...oh well, we got here...on time.  One of our outside sales reps picked us up and brought us to the hotel, where we checked in and went in search of lunch.

The sandwich at the hotel restaurant was awesome, but we were so starved that I might not have known any difference if it had been bad.  Then we went to get the booth set up, then to our room to rest an hour, then to dinner at 6:30 and back to work the booth for a trade show party at 8.  Done at 10, we stopped at the hotel bar for a quick drink, then went to our room.

In the midst of all of that, we took every opportunity to check this place out.  This is my third visit here, and it's by FAR the coolest hotel I have ever stayed in.  There is so much history here, and great pains were taken to insure this campus was restored in the original style.

We are not in the main building of the hotel.  There are a couple of other buildings, which Henry Ford used as a place for flight crews to stay when landing here.  We're in one of those.  This place rocks!  There are newspaper articles from the 30's, old pictures, stories and explanations everywhere.  A person could walk around for a week, and not see everything.

The girls did good today. A few small arguments, but they were squelched quickly.  Each time I talked to them, they sounded happier than the time before.  One day down, one to go.  Come on girls, you can do it.

Well, time to turn in soon.  We have room service at 8 in the morning.  I'm so excited about that.  We're going to sit and watch CBS Sunday Morning (best show ever) in bed and eat breakfast that someone else cooked and delivered to our room.  Oh yeah.  I can handle this.

All those pillowssssssss........I love pillows.  LOL  and also, room service.

(note:  don't get the roast beef sandwich.  It's never as good as you think it's going to be.)

That's a nice room. And Kevin looks great in his "official" shirt. LOL!  I would love a place with all that history.
