Comment pimping

This is an entry that is probably going to sound bitchy, so you may want to skip it.  It's just something I've noticed, and don't care much for.

There are journals out there in which the author will post something just to get comments.  I can't say I've never done it.  I mean, "respond with one word to describe me" is a pretty blatent example.  There are some, however, that do this constantly.  I love to see comments on my journal.  I can't wait to see if one of my favorites have checked in with their opinion.  Even if the opinion differs from mine, I love the input, and the thought-provoking entries.

I read about 10 journals a day.  I don't comment often.  I feel like I will comment when I have something to say.  I hate "me too" entries, and I don't comment if I can't say something nice.  Even if I disagree with you, I should be able to comment in a way that's not offensive.  If I can't find a way to do that, I won't try.  Sometimes, I see that someone else has said what I was going to say.  I don't comment, 'cause it would be a "me too" post, but I still enjoy your journal.

My friend, Russ, is hurting.  I hate it.  He is all screwed up on medication, and in intense pain.  I want to know that he's alive.  The only way I know that is to see him post to his journal, or see his comment on someone else's journal.  If I don't see something, I panic.  In fact, I threatened to kill perfectly good clover, just to elicit a response.  It worked.  Russ was alive and breathing that day.

Please visit my journal often.  Please comment when you feel compelled to do so.  Please know that I'm reading your journal, even if you don't see a comment from me.  Please know that, if you read this journal, you're most likely one of the 10 folks who have journals that I read daily.  You're an awesome assortment of folks, and I wouldn't miss a day.  Honest

Feel free to comment below:   ROFL, just kidding!

You know, Russ does have an email addy.  And he is great at answering his email.  So if all else fails, you can write him a note.  Now, if he doesn't answer the e-mail, it's time to worry!

This comment is going to sound bitchy so skip it if you want lol.  I don't comment on the journals I read at least not much.  Probably the one I comment on the most (and I have not lately is your Mom's journal). I think journals are basically a way people have of reaching out to each other, for some it is the only way they have, therefore the comments serve the purpose of connecting them with SOMEONE.   If you love to see comments (probably not this one) then there are a whole world of people that feel the same. I hope Russ will feel better soon. P.S. I don't have a journal and yes I do comment sometimes and yes it does serve the purpose of connecting me with someone.

Sometmes I  don't comment on an entry because someone else has said what I wanted to say and has said it BETTER  than I could have! lol
I will not leave an ugly comment on anybody's journal...I mean why would you want to be offensive to someone about their own opinion in their own journal?
Take care,
Carlene

So, you're saying you're not a comment whore?  ::muffled giggling::  Hee..should I start running now?  Feel sorry for me and my lame leg and give me a headstart.

(I'm worried about Russ, too...considering a friend of Jesse's just found out LAST WEEK that he had had a stroke in OCTOBER!  The GP never picked up on it!!!  and then.....when he finally got an MRI, the neuro said he was getting ready to have a brain aneursym and needed surgery immediately!  All this since October!  omg.....)

I don't always leave comments in your journal.  But I do read it.  I have you on my alerts.  I enjoy your journal.

I agree.... I'm worried about Russ too :(   And, I think I view commenting much as you do. I think I mostly try to leave positive comments because I try to follow the 'If you don't have something nice or constructive to say... don't say anything at all' rule.
